Spa Day at Smithereen Farm (afternoon session)

May 25 @ 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Spa Day at Smithereen Farm

Smithereen Farm is pleased to offer another season of SPA DAYS, a popular offering!

This Sunday morning Spa Day follows one day after the Fourth Annual Pennamaquan Alewife Festival. Book a campsite, bring your family, make a weekend of it! It also precedes our Low Low Tides Seaweed Harvest Workshop, kicking off on Monday, May 26 and running through the week. Learn more at smithereenfarm.com/events

What simple pleasures for skin and soul, kissed by sea breezes at the end of the Leighton Peninsula on beautiful Cobscook Bay. Inhale and exhale on a diverse saltwater farm, certified organic, all the way Downeast! Let your body switch from hot to cold and experience the benefits of thalassotherapy!  We fresh harvest seaweeds for your plunge! Soaking in Ascophyllum and Fucus seaweeds (known as thassalotheraphy) is common in spas in Ireland, France, and Iceland. Be among the first to experience the therapeutic benefits here in Maine!

Our six cast iron tubs sit under the orchard overlooking Cobscook Bay, just a few steps from the Bill Copperthwaite style wooden sauna.

Registration required, register here.

  • Guests arrive to the farm at 10am (morning session) or 4pm (afternoon session) and are greeted with herbal tea and a little guided walk around the orchards. Guests are given privacy to change into their bathing suits and go back and forth between the sauna and tubs. Most people spend about 2 hours back and forth at their leisure.

  • Each person has their own private cold plunge tub with seaweed, salt scrub, and mud mask provided. The sauna is a shared, quiet space.

  • You may choose to book (separately) an optional massage by appointment, which are offered by local massage therapists in the farm’s yurt. Available therapist contact information is noted below.

  • At the conclusion of the spa day guests are welcomed to walk to the beach (12 minutes round trip) or through the forest to Long Cove (35 minutes round trip) to complete the “forest bathing” component.

  • If you wish, you can extend your enjoyment by getting lunch at the Smithereen Farmstore (12 Little Falls Road, open 9am-5pm 7 days a week) or by visiting Reversing Hall Library Open Hours (Location: 4 Leighton Point Road, Sundays 1-3)

  • Consider staying the weekend, and booking a tent platform at Blueberry Land! Book directly through HipCamp.

  • Some spa days have guest chefs preparing dinner for added bonus programming at the beautiful Timber Frame Summer Kitchen; see dates below for select Spa Days which feature chef dinners or special workshops. If you would like to book out all six tubs for a private party with catering, we can arrange this ahead of time.
