Join us for an open house at the historic Liberty Hall in Machiasport, featuring a pop-up exhibition entitled Meeting Halls: Inspiring Maine’s Collective Futures hosted by visual artists Michelle Hauser and Sally Eckhoff. The event explores the dynamic of coming together in this landmark building where the artists will share recent work that includes photographs and hand-drawn animation. Guest speaker Rose Marasco will discuss her 1992 photographic project, Ritual and Community: The Maine Grange.
Gather and become a part of the momentum for strengthening community through the arts and learn more about the restoration and revitalization of civic buildings in Maine. Closing remarks will be offered by The Maine Civic Halls Initiative, a project of Maine Preservation, Friends of Liberty Hall, and the Greenhorns: greenhorns.org/civichalls
This event is supported by The Kindling Fund, a grant program administered by SPACE as part of the Andy Warhol Foundation For The Visual Arts Regional Regranting Program.
